Hi there, Bethany & Erick here and do we ever love dogs! Here's a bit about us in case you're wondering
Bethany began pet-sitting at a young age and was the neighborhood pet sitter ages 11 to 15. She had a neighbor lady who lived alone on a hobby farm and worked for United Airlines, often away 4 days per week.
Bethany took care of her 4 dogs, as well as several llamas & horses. Eventually more people around the neighborhood had Bethany caring for their pets and she was able to also care for several pigs, bunnies, cats & kittens!
She always gravitated towards animals and has a special bond with them. Bethany then grew up and worked 7 years in retail, followed by 10 years in a corporate office. Eventually she decided to find her passion for animals in her work and found several hobby jobs with pets including several boarding facilities and vet clinics from years 2015 to 2019: She worked at Kindness Animal Hospital for 3 years while still working at Wagging Tail Ranch.
Eventually she became a dog grooming assistant to help a groomer get back into the swing of things after a surgery. Bethany loved the dog grooming so much she decided to learn more and become a groomer. She briefly worked as the groomer at Animal Wellness Center of Buffalo Valley in Mondovi until she was given a great opportunity to groom inside the Wagging Tail Ranch facility and create her first LLC (dba Shampoochies).
In 2020, her husband Erick, found himself with free time due to the quarantine and it was at this time that Christa Guenther (owner of Wagging Tail Ranch) offered the opportunity for us to run the business as she transitioned into retirement. Erick immediately loved working at the boarding facility, as he is very much into dogs as well.
Erick's love of dogs began in childhood. It all started when he got beat up and bullied at school. Having been a chubby geek, he was an easy target for the bullies. He spent most of the day being miserable and thought of suicide often.
But their family dog, a cute little lab mix named Sally, was always there to greet him when coming off the school bus with her smiling face and wagging tail. It was the best part of his day.
That's when he knew he had to carry on because if he was gone, Sally would sit there and be sad waiting for him when the school bus came.
It was because of that his love of dogs began and it has only grown stronger since. 🙂
When Bethany & Erick met and found out that they both loved dogs, it was a match made in heaven! Together they now have 4 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels named Sophie, Trixie, Betty White, and Dee.
On November 1st, 2022, the newest member of the Wagging Tail Ranch family was born, their first child, a beautiful baby boy named Kason Maverick Spiegel. Here's hoping he loves dogs like we do!
That's us, we're excited to get to know you and your dogs too!
